These photographs were taken at the Battle of Bridgeport, Al. reenactment, March 26th, 27th and 28th, 2004.
The guys put on their uniform jackets and accoutrements and
were nice enough to pose for some photos before falling in for the afternoon's battle.

"Huh?What?" The 76th following orders to fall in |

A serious shot of the 76th Ohio. |

Some shots of drill at the breastworks. Watching the men
drill is a treat for spectators because it gives them a chance to see what soldiers would have done when they weren't in battle.
Drill...and more drill.... |

...Drill..... |

You Guessed It! Drill! |

Don't work too hard, guys! |

Nick, are you camera shy? |

This thing weighs a ton! |

Will tries to make the bayonet behave. |

Stand up Straight!!! |

"What did you say about us?!" |

"Heeeeeyyyy!" The 76th poses for glamour shots. |

Jake hit (cont.) Tries to make it to the surgeon. |

He "died" from his "wound" so he could watch the rest of the battle. |
Charles "died" in the battle also. |

Zack and Heather joke around... |

In the 1860s a lady showing her ankle was considered very improper. Shame on you, Heather! :) |
Zack shows off how MANLY he is. |

Charles and Jeremy play a game of marbles. |

Jennifer played with her doll.... |

...but soon played patty-cake with Charles instead |

Zack makes a comment and Heather responds... |

...This is a normal pose for Heather at any given time during an event. (see Olustee 03!) |
Will is lost in thought about...something. |

Simon minding his own business... |

Until Zack asks him for a piggyback ride. |

Jake looks hot and tired. It was about 80 degrees. |

Simon sports the latest fashions... |

Charles models his sutler purchase... |

PIRATE PANTYHOSE!!! |
Chow Time!
At reenactments, we try to replicate everything about a person or group
of people to be exactly the way it was in the 1860s. It even goes down to the food we eat while we are at an event.
For lunch, the soldiers would have filled up on hardtack (a kind of cracker) and dried beef (like beef jerky) so
that's what we eat too.
Will knaws on a piece of beef. |

Simon (front) and Jacob sample some hardtack. |

Heather trying to decide whether she likes it. |

Zack finishes his piece of hardtack. |

Saturday Evening: ST. BARBARA'S CEREMONY
A time honored tradition, the members of the 76th hold a ceremony
at the beginning of each season to celebrate the comraderie and fellowship among them.
As it was very dark, some of the photos are not in focus. But we hope you can see enough to get the
general idea of the ceremony.
Charles reads the declaration. |

Will and Nick sit and listen. |

Charles stirs the "brew" that all will partake of. |

Jacob adds "axle grease" to the concoction. |

Zack reads his "ingredient" and puts it in the pot |

Mmmmm! Doesn't that look TASTY! |

Jacob reaches his cup in and pulls out a drought |

He looks at it doubtfully.... |

But Steve's face says it all. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then that face is priceless!! |
Jacob finally summons his courage and drinks |

"Here's to St Barbara! CHEERS!" |
